Will you damage my door or car?
We almost never damage a door or car. We open houses by picking the lock or slipping the latch, and cars with an air wedge and a reach tool, which leave no marks when done carefully. If a broken or high-security lock can only be drilled, we tell you first, explain why, and quote the new cylinder before we start.
What ID do I need to show?
A photo ID plus something that ties you to the address or the car. For a home, an ID showing the address or a lease or utility bill; for a car, the registration or title. If your wallet is on the counter inside your Otay Ranch townhome, we check the papers once the door is open.
How fast can you get here?
It depends on where our tech is, and we tell you honestly when you call; we don't promise a blanket arrival time. The west side, from Castle Park and Montgomery to Third Avenue, is a short drive between jobs; Eastlake, Otay Ranch and Rolling Hills Ranch are a longer run out Otay Lakes Road or SR-125. If we can't get to you in a reasonable time, we say so, so you can call someone else.
Do you charge extra at night or on weekends?
Yes. Evening and weekend calls add $XX to the lockout rate, and we include it in the number we give you on the phone. That number, confirmed by the tech at your door, is what you pay, whether it's a car at the Bayfront or a front door in Rancho del Rey.
Can you open a smart lock with a dead battery?
Usually, yes, we can open a smart lock with a dead battery. If your model has a backup key cylinder or an emergency power option, we use it so your code works again. If it doesn't, we open the lock the way we would a standard deadbolt, then help you change the batteries. Tell us the brand when you call, whether it's an Eastlake front door or an Otay Ranch garage entry.
Can you open my apartment if the office is closed?
Yes, as long as you can show you live there: a photo ID with the unit's address, or a lease or utility bill if your ID is out of date. If your lease says only management may open unit doors and the office is open, call them first. If it's closed, whether you rent near Broadway, off Palomar Street or in Eastlake, call us and we open the unit door without damage.
